Retreats

Shakti Rising

Current proposed date: Sunday 3rd June to 7th, 2007.

Note that on June 3rd we will have a stand-alone day of Yoga for Women at St. Mary's hall in Glastonbury, 10.30 - 4.00. This is for women without babies. It may or may not be part of the retreat.

The full Women’s Yoga retreat is to be held at the lovely Earthspirit centre near Glastonbury with Wendy Teasdill and Uma Dinsmore Tuli.

For a write-up of this year's retreat, click here.

Yes, this is a retreat held in the week, not at the weekend. Yes, it’s OK to take time off for yourself. Yes, you can bring your baby with you.

We will be honouring and affirming the Feminine energy aspect through Yoga, dance, chanting, story-telling, Meditation and Relaxation.

We will cover the stages of a woman’s life-cycle - from girlhood through menstruation, fertility, infertility, pregnancy, post-natal phase, menopause, wisdom-phase - with Yoga.

An opportunity to pamper yourself with beautiful food, idyllic surroundings, good company, green walks and a hot-tub switched on the whole time.

Healing Field Gathering

July 20th to 24th, 2007

Held in a lovely Somerset meadow, not far from the Glastonbury Festival site. This camp is one of the smallest and sweetest around and is noted for its air of community. It is a drugs-free, alcohol-free and amplified-music-free zone, in which people sing Om Namah Shivaya round the campfire or in the bender-sauna or in the hot-tubs ... The gaps in the hedges yield views over the mystical Dragon lands of the Comptons, with Glastonbury Tor in the back-ground.

For further details, contact: www.healingfield.btinternet.co.uk

I will be co-ordinating the Yoga tent and the craft tent. If you would like to attend, please contact me or Jacob Jones on jacobjones@btinternet.co.uk

If you would like to work, either as a yoga teacher or in the craft tent (no experience necessary - we always need people to help clear up!), please email me: healingcraft@teasdill.com

Yoga Camp - Santosa Pan-Yoga Gathering

Yoga Camp, August bank holiday weekend, 2007. A not-for-profit yoga gathering. Same place as the healing field gathering, same set-up - but all yoga. It will bring together yoga teachers and students from all traditions of yoga. It’s family-friendly.

There are picture, details and booking forms up on Uma's website: www.sitaram.org/retreats

As well as dawn to dusk yoga sessions, there will be campfires, hot tubs, hot showers, singing and ceremony. There will also be complementary therapists working for donation. Essentially it’s a self catering event, but we are setting up some catering, so there should be hot drinks, chai, cakes and hot meals available.

If you are interested in teaching at the event, please contact our programme organizer,  Amanda Brown magicbean_99@yahoo.co.uk

Om Namah Shivaya

Glastonbury Festival

Glastonbury Festival needs no introduction. There will be no Glastonbury Festival in 2006, however, plans are already in progress for Glastonbury 2007.

Wendy co-ordinates the yoga teachers for the tent in the Healing Field section of the Glastonbury Festival. I am afraid we are already over-subscribed with yoga teachers so there is no point applying. However, if you do find yourself in Glastonbury Festival in 2007, do come up to the yoga tent and check the notice board to see who, when, what etc.

There will (probably) be Ashtanga Yoga, Satyananda Yoga, Shadow Yoga, Contact Yoga, British Wheel of Yoga teachers and some time and space for self-practice.
